Marshall and the Fro

After 200 performances in 2008 alone, it's fair to say Byron Bay/Northern NSW-based Rock/alternative blues outfit Marshall & the Fro are one of Australia's hardest working bands!!! From humble beginnings in Byron Bay, and now in demand nationally and internationally, Marshall & The Fro have performed at: The East Coast Blues & Roots Festival 06, 07, 08, Festival of the Sun 07, Queenscliff Music Festival 07 & 08, Apollo Bay Music festival 08, Narooma's Great Southern Blues & Rockabilly Festival 08, Peats Ridge Festival, Toyota Gympie Muster 08, Loud Festival 08, The Quiksilver Pro, Greenfest 2009 & the Woodford Folk Festival 08/09. They have shared the bill some of the biggest names Including: Ben Harper, Wolf Mother, The Living End, Joss Stone, Buddy Guy, Blue King Brown, The Cat Empire, The Herd, Jeff Lang, Jackson Jackson, Josh Pyke, Gomez, CW Stoneking, Mia Dyson, Clare Bowditch, Gotye, Xavier Rudd, Ash Grunwald and Dallas Frasca to name a few.

Marshall__the_Fro4_250.jpgComprised of Marshall OKell on Vocals, Guitar, Slide guitar and percussion, Newest menber Tracy "Bassy" Stephens on Bass and Jacob Mann (Poodle) on Drums, Marshall & the fro really are a refreshing modern Face generating a Progressive rock/roots energy. Their music feels so natural and so comfortable that on the one hand it's like slipping into your favorite pair of thongs heading to the local for a beer... then on the other hand, it's also high energy and exciting that its not unusual to see an ocean of fans clapping their humble double pluggers (thongs) in the air chanting the bands antheum "I got my thong on". Needless to say this is one band that embraces its Australian heritage and what better icon than the humble double plugger!!!

Some of Marshall & the Fro's recent achievements and awards include:

  • Finalist in the 2008 ISC (International Songwriting Competition) for 'Get Up (raise your Head)

Definately one not to be missed!!!!!!!
