DARREN JACK

Darren_Jack_Raw_10_Original_500.jpgDarren Jack has been playing live for 15 years and has cut his teeth with some of the finest players you will hear. Having endured and enjoyed countless miles on the road, touring through all parts of Australia, Darren has emerged as an extremely powerful vocalist and guitar player. This extensive experience leaves him in good stead as a strong contender on the Rhythm and Blues Festival and gig circuit around Australia.

Previously the driving force behind the award-winning Blues Band, Third Degree, which rocked Blues enthusiasts across the country for six years, Darren has been under his own name for the past 7 years. During this time, he has been playing solo acoustic gigs and has also experimented musically, adding Hammond Organ, which can be heard on the 2001 release, “Don’t Mess Up A Good Thing”. Though ultimately, he is most comfortable in a trio format, which is the current line up.

Drawing from his experiences as a high energy Rock Blues guitarist in Third Degree, and experimentations with Soul, Rhythm and Blues through the Hammond, Darren has incorporated these styles into his new trio, producing a gutsy, smooth and classy sound. Darren writes his own music and plays guitar with serious intensity and has a strong warm vocal that makes for a full sound that you could easily forget comes out of a 3 piece band.

Darren has just released his brand new live album "Live at the Bridge Hotel" which captures the honesty and raw energy of what Jacko does best- Playing live.

Darren says the live album was not a planned project but after listening back to the recording it was decided to put a live album out. It was also a chance to put material down that would not usually be recorded on a studio album, giving people a chance to hear another side of the band in action.

One of Australia’s leading Blues musicians, Darren has appeared at just about every major Blues Festival in Australia and has played alongside some of his most important artistic influences. Darren has opened and shared the stage with such artists as: Robert Cray (USA), Jimmie Vaughan (USA), Canned Heat (USA), Ford Blues Band (USA), George Thorogood (USA), Chris Cain (USA), Andy Just (USA), Long John Baldry (UK), Kevin Borich, Ian Moss, Jeff Lang, Phil Emmanuel, Dave Hole, and Chain.

Darren has also appeared at most major Blues Festivals in Australia, including: East Coast Blues Festival - Byron Bay, Great Southern Blues Festival - Narooma, Thredbo Blues Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, Australian Blues Music Festival - Goulburn, Southern Blues and Roots Festival - Hobart, Gympie Music Festival, Cross Roads Festival - Central Coast, Manly Jazz Festival, Blues on Broadbeach - Broadbeach, Bridgetown Blues Festival W.A. & The Forth Valley Blues Festival Launceston.
